Oseberg oil field : Vysus Group wins contract from Aibel to support upgrade and electrification
Vysus Group (previously Lloyd’s Register Energy) announced in February, that it had won a contract from Norwegian oil industry company Aibel to support the upgrade and electrification of Oseberg oil field, operated by Equinor, offshore Norway.
In this regard, the engineering and technical consultancy firm, will be conducting multiple safety studies, ranging from hazard identification studies to undertaking consequence modeling and quantitative risk analysis.
Vysus Group said the objective of the project is to maximize gas exports by means of low-pressure production, while reducing CO2 emissions from an otherwise energy-intensive process.
The consultancy firm also added that its work falls in the front-end engineering and design (FEED) category for the Oseberg Gas Capacity Upgrade and Power from Shore project (Oseberg OGP project).
Remi Martini – Principal Consultant at Vysus Group, commenting on the Oseberg oil field contract, said: “We are pleased to continue our longstanding, global relationship with Aibel for risk management consultancy services.”
“The work being carried out by Vysus Group at the field is crucial to these types of large modifications, which require approval by the relevant petroleum authorities.”
Vysus Group has been handling the Oseberg oil field project since the concept stage.
