Ørsted secures PPA for Texan solar power project with Royal DSM

Danish energy company Ørsted has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a solar power project in Texas with Royal DSM, a Dutch science-based company in nutrition, health, and sustainable living.

The solar power plant in question is currently being developed. It is anticipated to produce nearly 920,000MWh of electricity for the US energy grid annually, revealed Royal DSM.

According to Ørsted, the PPA will play a part in Royal DSM reducing its greenhouse gas emissions globally by 50% by the end of this decade, compared to base year 2016.

Royal DSM said that the signing of the PPA with the Ørsted solar power project in Texas puts it in a good position to overtake its target of buying 75% of its global electricity requirements from renewable sources by 2030 and to achieve 100% at the earliest possibility.
