NTPC fully commissions Auraiya floating solar power project in UP

Indian state-owned energy company NTPC Limited said that it has fully commissioned the 20MW Auraiya floating solar power project in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

The floating solar power plant has been developed on the reservoir of the 652MW NTPC Auraiya Gas Power Station located at Dibiyapur in the Auraiya district.

The Auraiya floating solar power project is a part of the initiative of NTPC in driving the floating solar market in India. The floating solar power plant was bagged by NTPC under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding held by Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Authority (UPNEDA) in 2019.

According to NTPC, the Auraiya floating solar power project will have an annual energy yield of 39 million units and will offset 33.6 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

NTPC, which commissioned the floating solar PV project on 16 September 2022, stated: “With this, standalone installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will become 57489 MW, while group installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will become 70084 MW.”
