NTPC fully commissions 600MW Kameng Hydro Electric Project

NTPC said that its fully-owned subsidiary North Eastern Electric Power Corporation () has commissioned Unit 4 of the 600MW Kameng Hydro Electric Project in .

As a result, the INR 61.8 billion ($850 million) Kameng Hydro Electric Project is now fully commissioned with all the four Vertical Francis turbines having a capacity of 150MW each.

Commissioning of the other three units of the Kameng Hydro Electric Project

In January 2021, Unit 3 of the hydroelectric power plant in the West Kameng was commissioned. Unit 2 of the Kameng hydro power project was commissioned in July 2020 while Unit 1 was brought online in the preceding month.

Following the full commissioning of the Kameng Hydro Electric Project, group has taken its commissioned and commercial capacity to over 64GW.

The Kameng hydro power project has been built along the Bichom and Tenga Rivers, which are both tributaries of the Kameng River.
