Nordson EFD, a subsidiary of Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ: NDSN) and a frontrunner in the manufacture of precision fluid dispensing systems, has unveiled its latest advancements in automation technology—the GVPlus and PROX families of automated fluid dispensing solutions. These innovations are set to redefine standards in precision and flexibility for various manufacturing sectors, heralding a new era in automated fluid dispensing.
Both the GVPlus and PROX product lines are designed to meet the evolving needs of high-volume manufacturing processes, with a particular emphasis on enhancing motion, workspace, repeatability, payload, setup, and vision capabilities. The GVPlus solutions stand out for their exceptional repeatability at 8 μm (±0.008 mm), setting a new benchmark in the industry. This is complemented by an easy setup facilitated by a dual mounting flange, allowing a tool payload of up to 4.5 kg (10 lbs) and a substantial working area of 400 mm x 400 mm.
Enhancements in vision technology, particularly through the CCD smart vision camera, enable the GVPlus series to deliver high-quality images across various challenging surfaces, including glass, mirrors, and plastics. Nordson EFD’s proprietary dispensing software further ensures accuracy by automatically adjusting for in-process variations, guaranteeing precise fluid deposit placements.
The PROX family introduces a leap in automated fluid dispensing with its new linear motors, ensuring rapid actuation, reduced maintenance, and increased durability. The PROX systems boast an industry-leading X, Y, and Z-axis repeatability of ±0.003 mm and an expanded working area of 500 mm x 500 mm. Like the GVPlus, the PROX solutions also feature a CCD smart vision camera and DispenseMotion software for optimal accuracy on even the most challenging surfaces.
Claude Bergeron, Product Line Manager for Automated Dispensing Systems at Nordson EFD, highlighted the significance of these innovations: “With these enhancements to Nordson EFD’s automated dispensing product line, manufacturers will benefit from higher accuracy in fluid deposit placement along with greater versatility that comes from the larger working area and stronger, more durable X, Y, Z movement of the robot tooling. These improvements will help them meet the demands for higher volume, high-quality production.”
The introduction of the GVPlus and PROX families marks a significant milestone in the field of automated fluid dispensing technology. Nordson EFD’s focus on improving precision, flexibility, and automation capabilities addresses key manufacturing challenges and sets a new standard for the industry. These developments are not just technological advancements; they are a testament to Nordson EFD’s commitment to innovation and its ability to drive efficiency and quality in manufacturing processes across the globe.
