NILIT announces JV with Shenma Industry to expand nylon production in China
NILIT, a global leader in high-performance Nylon 6.6 fibers for the apparel industry, renowned for its commitment to sustainability, has partnered with Shenma Industry Co., Ltd., part of China Pingmei Shenma Group. This new joint venture (JV) represents a strategic expansion in China, aiming to enhance NILIT’s production capabilities and deliver innovative solutions to the textile industry.
The partnership includes the construction of a new production site in Pingdingshan, also known as China Nylon City. The facility will adhere to NILIT’s Total Product Sustainability (TPS) standards, ensuring environmentally responsible production practices. The site is expected to boost production capacity by 20,000 tons over the next few years, underscoring NILIT’s dedication to supporting the growth of global customers and brands.
NILIT Global General Manager, Ilan Melamed, expressed enthusiasm about the joint venture, stating, “We are pleased to unveil this new greenfield joint venture in China with Shenma to introduce differentiated state-of-the-art technologies to support the local market.” He highlighted that the collaboration will produce premium Fully Drawn Yarns (FDY) and Air Textured Yarns (ATY), known for their strength, smoothness, and softness, respectively, catering to diverse end uses such as home textiles and the automotive industry.
This collaboration merges NILIT’s extensive experience in nylon production and marketing with Shenma’s market leadership in China. “With a shared commitment to excellence and innovation, we are poised to leverage our collective strengths to penetrate new markets and amplify our capabilities across China,” added Ilan Melamed.
The joint venture agreement was officially signed in a ceremony in Shanghai on April 18th, attended by prominent leaders including Mr. Li Mao, Chairman of China Pingmei Shenma Group, and Mr. Michael Levi, Chairman of NILIT Group.
In addition to the joint venture, NILIT is planning to double the production capacity at its existing production site in Suzhou SIP, with Shenma Industrials as a minority shareholder. This expansion is driven by increasing global demand for NILIT’s high-end, innovative, and sustainable products, aiming to meet customer needs efficiently.
The strategic alliance between NILIT and Shenma is not just a growth opportunity for both companies but also a significant development in the textile industry’s push towards more sustainable and innovative production practices. This partnership is likely to set a precedent for future collaborations in the industry, combining local expertise with global innovation strategies.
