Neste acquires Count Terminal Rotterdam in the Netherlands
Neste, a Finnish renewable diesel producer, has acquired 100% of the Dutch Count Companies’ Count Terminal Rotterdam and its supporting entities, part of the First Dutch Group of Peter Goedvolk.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Count Terminal Rotterdam is engaged in storage, refining and blending of renewable waste and residue-based raw materials in the Rotterdam harbor area in the Netherlands.
Neste said that Count Terminal Rotterdam will be the first terminal asset Neste it owns for aggregating renewable feedstock, thereby enabling the company to further developing its raw material logistics for the future.
The acquisition will also boost its competitiveness in the global renewable waste and residue raw material market, said Neste.
Peter Vanacker – Neste President and CEO said: “This is another important step for Neste in the execution of our growth strategy. This acquisition supports our efforts to build a global renewable waste and residue raw material platform that can keep pace with the world’s growing demand for renewable products. Count Terminal Rotterdam and Neste Demeter have had a successful long-term collaboration at the site and the acquisition by Neste serves as a logical next step in deepening cooperation and in developing operations further.”
The Finnish renewable diesel producer has been active in the Netherlands since 2011 when the Rotterdam refinery for renewable products began its operations. The Rotterdam refinery along with Neste’s Singapore refinery, are claimed to be the biggest and most advanced renewable diesel refineries in the world.
Neste’s Sluiskil plant handles the storage and pre-treatment of renewable raw materials, and its subsidiary Neste Demeter supplies raw materials to the renewable diesel refinery.
In 2019, the Finnish renewable diesel producer opened a new office in Hoofddorp, in greater Amsterdam which functions as the global hub for the renewable aviation business.
