Neogen acquires Italian food safety company Diessechem

Neogen acquisition of Diessechem : Michigan-based food safety company Neogen has acquired Diessechem, an Italian distributor of food and feed safety diagnostics, for an undisclosed price.

Ever since Diessechem was established in 1993, it has been an authorized distributor of the food safety company. Diessechem is a supplier of diagnostic kits and instruments that are used in laboratory analysis and food safety.

Some of the customers of Diessechem are said to be some of Italy’s major public authorities for food safety, food industries, grain companies, feed mills, and various private laboratories operating in food and environmental test and measurement market.

Fabrizio Ciniselli – Diessechem managing director, commenting on Neogen acquisition of Diessechem, said: “Over the past 27 years we have helped provide a safer and more reliable food supply for Italy. This acquisition by Neogen will assure this program continues into the future.”

Neogen’s European business will now manage Diessechem’s operations which will remain in Milan. Some of the main employees of Diessechem will be joining Neogen to ensure a smooth transition and continued growth in revenue.

Commenting on Neogen acquisition of Diessechem, Steve Chambers – Neogen managing director for its European operations, said: “Italy has traditionally been a strong market for our food safety products, and we believe it continues to hold excellent growth opportunities for that segment, as well as our animal health, and genomic products and services.

“Our operations across the United Kingdom have allowed us to serve our direct customers and more than 30 distributors throughout the European Union with easily accessible inventory and increased support. Adding Diessechem’s distribution network in Italy to our European operations will further strengthen our presence in the EU.”
