Birla Corporation Limited () has inaugurated the Mukutban plant in Maharashtra owned by its fully-owned subsidiary .

Built with an investment of INR 2,744 crores, the Mukutban cement factory which will produce 3.90 million tons of cement per annum will increase the capacity of MP Birla Group to 20 million tons per annum.

— MP Birla Group Chairman said: “It is no mean feat to complete such a large project under such challenging circumstances with major disruptions on account of Covid which led to several logistical challenges, stoppage of work and a flight of labour from the project site on several occasions.

“Moreover, to achieve 10-million man hours of construction with zero accidents and completion of the entire project without a single major accident or fatality, I am told, is a unique achievement in the cement industry.”

The Mukutban cement plant is the fourth integrated cement unit of the MP Birla Group. It is also claimed to be the biggest single line/kiln cement plant in Maharashtra, on the basis of capacity.

It will be powered by a 40MW thermal captive power plant, which is based on air-cooled condenser (ACC) technology for minimizing the consumption of water by 90%.
