Mount Franklin Foods to build new candy manufacturing facility in Mexico
Confectionery industry news : Mount Franklin Foods has broken ground on a new 220,000sft candy manufacturing facility in San Jeronimo in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
Headquartered in El Paso, Texas, Mount Franklin Foods is a manufacturer of branded, contract and private label confectionery, nuts, snacks and foodservice products.
The new candy manufacturing facility in San Jeronimo will help the company boost its capacity by 130 million pounds a year. Scheduled to open in May 2020, the candy manufacturing factory is expected to create more than 450 new jobs in the region.
Gary Ricco – President and CEO of Mount Franklin Foods, commenting on the new candy manufacturing facility in San Jeronimo, said: “This growth allows us to continue development of exciting new products for our customers and consumers.
“The new facility is being built to house additional mogul production for soft candy items, such as gummies and jellies.”
According to Gary Ricco, Mount Franklin Foods will sustain a competitive edge in the confectionery market by expanding its manufacturing capabilities. Further, it places the company for continued growth while helping it stay as the trusted resource for quality candy and snack products to major retailers, wholesalers, co-manufacturing customers and foodservice distributors.
In August 2018, Mount Franklin Foods acquired Hospitality Mints, a North Carolina-based manufacturer of a range of soft and hard mints and candies such as soft butter mints, pastels, peppermints, ice crystals and jellies.
The other businesses of Mount Franklin Foods include candy brand Sunrise Confections, Azar Nut – a supplier of nuts, seeds and snacks, Brewhouse Legends – which makes snack nut mixes and Softer Than Brittle – which makes vegan, gluten and dairy free nut snacks.
