Meijer Grocery stores in southeast Michigan : Opening date revealed by Meijer
American supercenter chain Meijer will open its first two Meijer Grocery stores in southeast Michigan at Orion Township and Macomb Township on 26 January 2023.
Spanning over 75,000-90,000 square feet each, the Meijer Grocery stores will feature produce and grocery, meat, bakery, full-service deli, pharmacy, health and beauty care, card and party and floral departments, and baby, pets and consumables.
Rick Keyes — Meijer President and CEO, commenting on the opening of the Meijer Grocery stores in southeast Michigan, said: “By opening Meijer Grocery stores, we’re introducing a new way for our customers to shop that provides convenience, value and the great quality our customers have always come to expect from Meijer.
“Our customers’ needs are always evolving, and we’re committed to meeting them where they are.
“That’s why we’re excited to share this new Meijer experience with the Orion and Macomb Township communities.”
Meijer Grocery, just like Meijer supercenter will also offer the same saving and shopping technology such as Shop and Scan, mPerks, Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup.
Meijer Grocery stores will sell local brands across its departments to encourage home-grown businesses.
Talking on the opening of the Meijer Grocery stores in southeast Michigan, Don Sanderson — Meijer Merchandising Senior Vice President, said: “Orion and Macomb Townships are already very familiar with our Meijer supercenters, but we believe they will benefit from the added convenience Meijer Grocery will bring to their neighborhoods.
“We specifically chose to launch this new store format in southeast Michigan because we’re a Michigan company that has been serving customers in Metro Detroit for decades.”
Currently, with over 45 stores, Meijer opened its first Metro Detroit supercenter in Canton in 1974.
Meijer is a privately-owned and family-operated company since 1934.
The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based retailer runs 499 supercenters, Express locations and neighborhood markets throughout Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.
