Medline Industries, Inc. has announced a definitive agreement to acquire the global surgical solutions division of Ecolab Inc., a move that includes the acquisition of the industry-leading Microtek product lines. This strategic acquisition is set to enhance Medline’s offerings in sterile drape solutions for surgeons, patients, and operating room equipment, along with Ecolab’s fluid temperature management systems.
Expanding Capabilities in Surgical Solutions
Jim Pigott, President and Chief Operating Officer for Medline, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to acquire a leading portfolio of operating room products with such a strong reputation for protecting patients and healthcare workers.” Medline plans to leverage its extensive commercial footprint, market-leading supply chain capabilities, and robust manufacturing expertise to grow this critical business segment and provide enhanced services to support their customers.
Focused on Innovation and Operational Excellence
The acquisition not only broadens Medline’s product offerings but also adds significant design and development capabilities that will support original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers. This will enable Medline to offer complementary products that protect both patients and cutting-edge equipment in surgical suites. “We look forward to welcoming Ecolab surgical solutions team members to the Medline family and together continuing to serve our customers with innovation, quality, and a shared focus on making healthcare run better,” added Pigott.
Anticipated Completion and Future Prospects
Subject to standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2024. This acquisition marks a significant step in Medline’s strategy to enhance its healthcare solutions, promising a seamless integration for employees and customers and reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality medical products.
