Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. (MHIL) said that it has acquired exclusive rights to help in the development and provide medical services to a 500-bed children’s hospital to be built in South Delhi.
The Indian private healthcare provider has bagged the rights through its fully-owned subsidiary — Alps Hospital Limited, which in turn got them through the acquisition of ET Planners Pvt Ltd.
According to Max Healthcare Institute, the children’s hospital will be constructed on a 3.5-acre land in Saket. It will be operated on the aegis of Vikrant Children’s Foundation and Research Centre.
The new children’s hospital will be located between Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket and Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, a unit of Gujarmal Modi Hospital and Research Centre for Medical Sciences.
Max Healthcare Institute said that the deal will enable integration of existing Max Network hospitals, thereby creating a 2,300+ bed contiguous medical hub.
The first phase of the new children’s hospital in Saket, which will have 250 beds, is anticipated to be commissioned in 2024.
Once fully operational, the hospital will directly employ nearly 2,500 people and provide free treatment to approximately 80,000 patients from the economically weaker section annually in its in-patient and outpatient department.
Dr. Abhay Soi — Chairman and Managing Director of Max Healthcare Institute said: “This transaction will allow us to create amongst the largest healthcare complexes in Asia at the heart of our National Capital. This complex will be committed to the highest standards of clinical excellence, research, academics and patient care, serving both domestic and international patient community.”
