Maruti Suzuki smashes November sales with 181,531 units—record exports lead the charge
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) recorded a significant achievement in November 2024, with Maruti Suzuki sales reaching 181,531 units. This total includes a strong performance in domestic passenger vehicles and remarkable strides in export sales growth, reinforcing the company’s market dominance both in India and internationally.
Domestic passenger vehicles performance
In November 2024, Maruti Suzuki sales in the domestic market totalled 144,238 units, including domestic passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Among these, domestic passenger vehicles contributed 141,312 units, demonstrating steady demand across multiple segments.
The compact car category, which features bestsellers like the Baleno, Swift, and WagonR, maintained its critical role in the company’s portfolio with 61,373 units sold. Although slightly lower than the 64,679 units sold in November 2023, the segment remains a stronghold for Maruti Suzuki. The mini car lineup, including the Alto and S-Presso, added 9,750 units to the overall tally.
Growth in the utility vehicle segment was a standout, with 59,003 units sold compared to 49,016 units in the same month last year. Models like the Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Invicto continue to elevate the brand’s presence in the highly competitive utility vehicle segment.
Export sales growth
November 2024 marked a milestone in export sales growth for Maruti Suzuki, with 28,633 units shipped overseas. This reflects a significant increase from 22,950 units in November 2023. The company’s year-to-date exports now stand at 210,077 units, highlighting a consistent upward trend in international markets.
Compact car category resilience
Despite minor fluctuations, the compact car category remains the backbone of Maruti Suzuki’s success, supported by its affordability, reliability, and appeal to a broad customer base. The company’s strategy of refreshing models within this segment has ensured sustained customer interest.
Market outlook and expert opinions
Experts suggest that Maruti Suzuki’s robust presence across the utility vehicle segment and its expanding global reach through export sales growth are critical drivers of its success. The company’s diverse portfolio, backed by strong production capabilities, positions it well to continue leading the domestic passenger vehicles market.
Future focus
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki is poised to enhance its offerings in the utility vehicle segment, further leveraging the global demand for SUVs and crossovers. Additionally, its commitment to innovation and market adaptation will likely sustain the momentum in export sales growth.
