Maruti Suzuki India said that it has started exports of its Grand Vitara SUV with the first shipment sailing to Latin America from the Kamarajar port located on the Coromandel Coast, Chennai.
The Indian car manufacturer revealed its target to export the Grand Vitara SUV to over 60 countries across Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, ASEAN, and neighboring regions.
Hisashi Takeuchi — Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO said: “Supporting Government of India’s efforts to increase exports from India, Maruti Suzuki has taken multiple initiatives to increase its international presence. Expanding product portfolio for exports has been one of the key pillars of success.
“By adding Grand Vitara, we now export a range of 17 vehicles. Grand Vitara, unveiled in July 2022, has received overwhelming response in the domestic market and we are confident that the India manufactured Grand Vitara will meet with similar success in overseas markets as well.”
In the calendar year 2022, Maruti Suzuki exported more than 2.6 lakh vehicles. Following the inclusion of the Grand Vitara SUV, the Indian car manufacturing company aims to further bolster its position as a leading passenger vehicle exporter in the country.
