Mahindra Lifespaces expands Tamil Nadu industrial project in partnership with Sumitomo

Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited, a key player in India’s real estate and infrastructure development sector, has announced the second phase of its industrial park project in Tamil Nadu. The project, branded “Origins by Mahindra,” is a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation of Japan. This significant development aims to enhance the industrial ecosystem in the region through advanced infrastructure and land acquisition.

The partnership between Mahindra Lifespaces and Sumitomo Corporation dates back to 2015, when a joint venture agreement was initially signed. To reinforce this collaboration, both companies have entered a supplemental agreement involving an investment of approximately ₹225 crores. The funding will be deployed proportionally to their existing shareholding in Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL). This marks a major milestone for the industrial clusters business and reflects the companies’ shared vision for economic growth.

According to Amit Kumar Sinha, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Lifespace Developers, the collaboration underscores their commitment to fostering business-friendly ecosystems that promote economic and industrial development in a sustainable manner.

The existing industrial park under MIPCL currently spans 307 acres and serves as a hub for both global and domestic enterprises. It has already established itself as a vital player in supporting Tamil Nadu’s industrial growth by providing world-class infrastructure. The upcoming expansion is expected to further solidify its role in attracting investment and boosting regional economic activity.
