Maharashtra has launched India’s first integrated Cyber Command and Control Center in partnership with L&T Technology Services Limited (LTTS). This groundbreaking initiative aims to create a secure digital environment for citizens, enterprises, and critical infrastructure, enhancing the state’s cybersecurity capabilities with cutting-edge technology and expertise.
The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, at Mahape. The Cyber Command and Control Center aims to tackle rising cyber threats by providing a centralized hub for investigation, citizen grievance management, and cyber infrastructure protection. L&T Technology Services, in collaboration with KPMG Assurance and Consulting Services as a partner in technology investigation, executed the project.
The integrated Command and Control Center aims to position Maharashtra at the forefront of cybersecurity in India by fast-tracking cybercrime investigations, raising conviction rates, and empowering law enforcement with advanced tools. The initiative is part of a broader state strategy to increase awareness of cybercrime risks among citizens and enterprises.
A Significant Step for Cybersecurity
The facility features cutting-edge technologies, such as AI-based threat intelligence tools, blockchain-based security systems, and integrated forensics capabilities. The Cyber Command Center is equipped with over 50 global forensic technologies and 17 threat intelligence tools that help safeguard critical infrastructure and enable timely intervention. Additionally, the facility integrates with 50 geographically distributed district cyber police stations across Maharashtra, offering a more responsive and localized approach to cybercrime prevention and investigation.
L&T Technology Services, led by CEO and Managing Director Amit Chadha, highlighted the importance of the center in empowering the state’s law enforcement and ensuring digital safety. Amit Chadha emphasized that the project draws upon LTTS’s experience in managing over 25 smart city command centers across India.
Expert Insight: A Future-Proof Security Strategy
According to cyber defense experts, Maharashtra’s command center is a significant step forward for the state’s digital resilience. This is the first time a state government in India has established an integrated approach involving citizens, enterprises, and law enforcement under one roof, positioning Maharashtra as a leader in cybersecurity. Experts believe that this model can serve as a template for other states, driving the rapid adoption of centralized cyber defenses across India.
Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, noted that the initiative provides a world-class platform for tackling cybercrime, ensuring faster resolution of incidents, and enhancing digital safety for the state’s citizens and enterprises. The state aims to become a benchmark in cybersecurity through such projects, leveraging global technologies and highly skilled personnel to enhance capacity building within the police force.
The Cyber Command Center also has a Citizen Grievance Management System that allows people to report incidents via multiple channels, including a dedicated helpline number and mobile app. The inclusion of Maharashtra’s Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT-MH) enhances the state’s ability to handle critical cyber incidents and coordinate with national authorities on issues involving critical infrastructure and security threats.
