Maersk Drilling wins contract for Maersk Valiant drillship in Colombia

Maersk Drilling has bagged a contract worth $18.2 million for its Maersk Valiant drillship from Noble Energy for the drilling of a well in Colombian waters.

The contract for the Danish drilling rig operator is anticipated to begin in the third quarter in 2020 in direct continuation of the Maersk Valiant drillship’s previous contract. Estimated to have a duration of 65 days, the contract value covers mobilization and demobilization fees.

Morten Kelstrup – COO of Maersk Drilling said: “We are very happy to be going back to Colombia for this contract which adds further visibility for our floater fleet. We look forward to helping Noble Energy achieve their goals by utilising the Maersk Valiant’s integrated Managed Pressure Drilling capability which will be key to the success of this project.”

According to Maersk Drilling, Maersk Valiant, which was delivered in 2013, is a high-specification 7th generation drillship having integrated managed pressure drilling (MPD) capability. Currently, the Maersk Valiant drillship is being mobilized for a drilling campaign in Mexican waters.
