In a dramatic turn of events, India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched a massive victory in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, defying exit polls that predicted a tight race. The BJP secured an astonishing 163 seats, leaving the Indian National Congress (INC) far behind with just 66 seats.
BJP’s Surprising Dominance Over Congress
The BJP had clinched victory or was leading in 165 seats by 8:40 pm (local time), more than double the Congress’ 64 seats. This outcome represents a staggering gain of 56 seats for the BJP and a massive loss of 50 seats for the Congress.
