L&T Construction bags contract for rural water supply projects in UP

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that L&T Construction has won a contract in the range of INR 2,500-5,000 crores for its water and effluent treatment business in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Indian engineering conglomerate, the contract awarded by the State Water and Sanitation Mission (SWSM) is a repeat order.

Under the contract, L&T Construction will be responsible for executing rural water supply projects to provide functional house tap connections (FHTC) under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

L&T Construction’s water and effluent treatment business will implement rural water supply projects that will serve the potable water requirement of 1,900 villages in the Prayagraj Revenue Division of the Prayagraj district.

The scope of the contract includes construction of tube wells, overhead tanks, pump houses and chlorination rooms, solar plants, treatment systems, rising main and distribution pipeline network, staff quarters, individual house connections along with associated electromechanical and automation works.

L&T Construction is already engaged in executing water supply schemes for the UP SWSM in Mahoba, Gonda, Banda, Chitrakhoot, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Sonbhadra districts.

Furthermore, the company’s smart water infrastructure segment has won a contract from Silvassa Smart City for executing an integrated infrastructure project at Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

The scope of work covers constructing 68km of smart roads and storm water drains, cross drainage structures, round-the-clock water supply system, sewerage collection network, and street lighting.

This project is part of the Indian government’s Smart Cities Mission.
