Liuhua 29-2 gas field : CNOOC begins production from South China Sea field

CNOOC, a Chinese state-owned oil and gas company, has started production from its 100% owned Liuhua 29-2 gas field in the South China Sea.

The Liuhua 29-2 gas field is located in the eastern part of the sea, 300km southeast of Hong Kong.

It is contained in a water depth of nearly 750m.

CNOOC said that it had built a new subsea wellhead for the project and one development well planned, which will fully use the existing production facilities of Liwan 3-1 gas field and also other deepwater gas fields.

The Liuhua 29-2 gas field is anticipated to hit a peak production of nearly 41 million cubic feet of natural gas per day this year.
