Aker BP, a Norwegian oil company, has confirmed Linjepartner as the selected partner for delivering overhead lines in the Yggdrasil power from shore project.
This agreement, valued at over NOK 100 million plus the procurement of material, ensures several years of activity and job security for the Levanger-based company, Linjepartner.
The Yggdrasil power from shore project aims to provide a reliable and stable power supply with exceptionally low emissions to the Yggdrasil area. This includes a new transformer station in Børdalen in Samnanger, 11 kilometers of powerline and cable in Samnanger, a compensation station at Årskog in Fitjar, and a total of 255 kilometers of sea cable from Samnanger to the Yggdrasil area in the North Sea.
In April, Aker BP received the power license to connect Yggdrasil to the national grid in Samnanger. The Storting, Norway’s parliament, approved the plans for development and operation of the Yggdrasil area on June 5. This NOK 115 billion development project is anticipated to generate 65,000 full-time equivalents in Norway during the development and operational phase, with over 65 percent of the investments coming from Norway.
Onshore construction work for the project is expected to commence in October, with delivery from Linjepartner set to begin concurrently. The completion of this significant initiative is scheduled for August 2025. This partnership between Aker BP and Linjepartner signifies a substantial stride towards sustainable energy solutions within the oil industry.
