Larsen & Toubro wins Rs 1000-2,500cr contracts for construction business
Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that its construction arm has won orders for its multiple businesses, worth in the range of INR 1,000 to 2,500 crores.
Larsen & Toubro’s water and effluent treatment business has won a contract from the Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Division, Karnataka. The contract is for constructing drinking water supply facilities for 396 rural habitations in the Dharwad and Belagavi districts from the Renukasagar Reservoir (Navilutheertha dam).
Under the multi village drinking water supply scheme, Larsen & Toubro will execute the contract on a design, build, operate and transfer mode.
The project scope covers design and construction of intake works, raw water pumping main, clear water reservoir cum pump house, water treatment plant, zonal balancing tanks, master balancing reservoirs, clear water transmission and gravity pipelines, intermediate sump cum pump house and lifting stations, overhead tanks and related electromechanical and instrumentation works.
According to Larsen & Toubro, the project calls for measurement of input and output water quantity as well as quality by means of suitable instruments. The project is expected to serve a total of 11.96 lakh people. The group said that its water and effluent treatment business has already wrapped up the Gadag Water Supply Project and for the same client is currently executing the Koppal Water Supply Project.
On the other hand, L&T GeoStructure Pvt Ltd. (LTGS) has won an order from Tata Chemicals for commissioning a jetty-based Marine Outfall System and associated works including construction, procurement and installation of HT pumphouse, 3.5kms jetty mounted piping system and diffuser system in the Gulf of Kutch at Mithapur in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro said that its power transmission and distribution business has won a 500kV transmission line project in the Philippines. The project will be carried out along with an onshore partner, which will become part of the transmission backbone to meet the rising demand for power in the western parts of Luzon.
