Larsen & Toubro wins contract for Rawatbhata atomic power project

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that its construction division’s heavy civil infrastructure (HCI) business has bagged an order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) to construct natural draught cooling towers and a cooling water pump house for the Rawatbhata atomic power project units 7 and 8.

According to Larsen & Toubro, the contract value is in the range of INR 1,000 crores and 2,500 crores.

The 995MW Rawatbhata atomic power project (also known as Rajasthan Atomic Power Station) is located in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan.

Larsen & Toubro said that it will be responsible for constructing natural draught cooling towers, cooling water pump houses, installation and commissioning of cooling water pumps, and large diameter cement mortar lined and coated steel pipe (CMLC), the primary medium for hot water transportation from the turbine to the cooling towers.

The contract related to the Rawatbhata atomic power project is slated to be executed in 36 months, said Larsen & Toubro.
