Larsen & Toubro water and effluent treatment unit wins contracts in Gujarat

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that L&T Construction’s water and effluent treatment unit has won repeat orders from the Narmada Water Resources, Water Supply & Kalpsar Department, Government of Gujarat.

The contract is for carrying out pipeline and pumping system works from Tappar Dam to Nirona Dam (Northern Link).

According to Larsen & Toubro, this is the single biggest contract won by its water and effluent treatment business in Gujarat. Although the Indian conglomerate did not disclose the exact value of the contract, it indicated that the contract is valued in the range of INR 1,000 to 2,500 crores.

The scope of work under the contract calls for the design, supply, construction, and commissioning of pipelines and pump houses, with related electrical and automation works. The objective of the turnkey project is to bolster the water resources in Kachchh district by filling existing reservoirs that will be irrigating 36,392 hectares of land.

Larsen & Toubro stated: “The order reinforces the customer’s trust in L&T’s capability to undertake projects of social importance in seismically sensitive areas with the larger goal of agricultural development and water conservation.”
