Larsen & Toubro helps commission Dhaka Metro Line 6 phase-1
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that L&T Construction’s transportation infrastructure unit has commissioned the electrical and mechanical System for the Dhaka Metro Line 6 phase-1 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
According to the Indian group, the commercial operations of the 11.4 km phase-1 of the metro line started following the achievement of the milestone.
Inaugurated by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the mass rapid transit system (MRTS) Line-6 has been funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The line has been laid between Uttara and Motijheel in Dhaka and spans through the areas of Pallabi and Mirpur.
Dhaka Metro Line 6 has 16 metro stations and a maintenance depot.
Larsen & Toubro said that the Bangladeshi project is the first ever Integrated E&M Systems works including Overall System Integration to have been carried out by the company in the Metro domain.
The scope of Larsen & Toubro’s work involved ballasted track in the depot, ballast less track work in the viaduct, DC Overhead Catenary System (OCS), 1500V DC Traction Sub Stations (TSS), communication based train controls (CBTC), energy storage systems (ESS), signaling and telecommunication systems and others.
