Larsen & Toubro forays into virtual learning with L&T EduTech
Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has forayed into the area of virtual learning by launching L&T EduTech, a technology-driven, industry-led, application-based educational platform.
L&T EduTech will cover the full spectrum of engineering and technology verticals to help build industry-ready professionals.
The new virtual learning unit aims to future-proof the businesses of Larsen & Toubro and close the gap that exists currently between the skills of the newest engineers and expectations from the industry.
L&T EduTech will leverage L&T’s wealth of experience and knowledge that has been gained from executing several of the most difficult and challenging projects over the decades. Using these, the new learning platform will provide professionals and students with the professional expertise they need to increase their potential for employment.
A M Naik — Group Chairman of Larsen & Toubro said: “We are living in a period of accelerating change, with the need to not only learn new things but also seek newer and better ways of transmitting learning and I am confident that L&T EduTech will fulfill this role by enabling young men and women of the country to meet the challenges of the future.
“We have a strong demographic dividend but to translate that potential into performance, it is imperative that we impart relevant skills to our youngsters, make them more productive, and better equipped to contribute to India‘s growth story.”
According to Larsen & Toubro, L&T EduTech will offer three verticals — College Connect, Professional Skilling, and Vocational Skilling, which are said to be backed by strong assessment and certification processes.
College Connect will empower students by providing practical and application-based education, while Professional Skilling will help professionals to fast-track careers in their domains.
Vocational Skilling, on the other hand, is a set of skill-based certification programs developed by industry experts to boost their employability.
Larsen & Toubro said that a strong process of learn, skill, assess, certify and engage along with a faculty of subject matter experts brought from industry, academia and from within the group will provide a new dimension to platform-based, hybrid learning and skilling.
R Ganesan — Head of L&T Construction Corporate Centre said: “With the growing accent on online learning & skilling, we have timed the introduction of L&T EduTech well.
“We are entering a space that so necessarily requires professional skilling and we are confident that both students and professionals will benefit hugely from our curated courses deeply-rooted in the real world. In fact, learning from L&T is very akin to learning from the masters.”
