Larsen & Toubro bags new transmission and distribution contracts

Indian engineering group Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won orders worth INR 2,500 crores to 5,000 crores for its power transmission and distribution business in India and overseas.

In Saudi Arabia, the company has secured two orders to establish overhead power transmission lines of 380kV, connecting major cities located along the Red Sea coast. These transmission lines, spanning 400km, will support various projects aimed at meeting the increasing demand in these industrial and tourism hubs.

Additionally, Larsen & Toubro has received an order to design, supply, and construct a 380kV substation in the central region of Saudi Arabia. This substation plays a crucial role in evacuating renewable energy capacity as part of the Kingdom’s strategy to diversify its electricity mix away from fossil fuels.

In the domestic market, Larsen & Toubro continues its successful streak in the Revamped Reforms Based and Results-Linked Distribution Sector (RDSS) Scheme projects, having secured new orders from a prominent Gujarat DISCOM (Distribution Company). These projects involve the modernization and development of distribution infrastructure in three districts of Gujarat’s southern region, aiming to establish a more efficient and resilient distribution network in these districts, including the towns under the AMRUT initiative.
