Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said that L&T Construction’s water and effluent treatment unit has won repeat orders from the Madhya Pradesh government to execute a couple of lift irrigation projects on a turnkey basis.
The projects involve the irrigation of 2,05,000 hectares of culturable command area spread over 500 plus villages of Dewas and Dhar districts.
Larsen & Toubro didn’t reveal the exact value of the orders but indicated them to be in the range of INR 5,000 to 7,000 crores.
The scope of the orders covers survey, design, engineering, procurement, laying of rising and gravity mains, construction of pump houses, distribution network, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) for controlling and regulating the complete system.
According to Larsen & Toubro, the micro irrigation projects will help in lifting 60 cumecs of water from the Narmada River for irrigating the farmlands, thereby benefitting 3,00,000 farmers.
The automation system with field instruments and automated valves will make sure that water is supplied round-the-clock during the Rabi season, said Larsen & Toubro.
