King’s College Hospital London, Dubai (KCH Dubai) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the first healthcare systems in the UAE to migrate its Oracle Health Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This transition aims to enhance the security, performance, and usability of the hospital’s EHR, ultimately improving the experience for both patients and healthcare providers. The migration allows KCH Dubai to support over 1,000 concurrent users across its facilities, offering more efficient workflows and superior system performance.

The shift to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has already delivered notable benefits, including a 50% reduction in the time required to access patient information and a 20% decrease in the time needed to review each patient’s medical chart. Additionally, the move has led to a 25% overall reduction in time spent in the EHR, thanks to faster screen loads and improved transaction response times. These enhancements are streamlining clinical processes, enabling healthcare professionals to complete tasks more swiftly and spend more time with patients. The increased speed and responsiveness of the system also facilitate more comprehensive and real-time updates to patient records, thus improving communication and care coordination among caregivers.

Kimberly Pierce, Chief Executive Officer of KCH Dubai, highlighted the substantial improvements in clinical processes since adopting Oracle Health. Pierce noted the increase in the system’s speed and responsiveness and the reduction in time spent reviewing patient charts. She expressed optimism about the potential of Oracle’s cloud infrastructure to support future advancements in areas such as generative AI, which could further benefit patient care and support practitioners.

With OCI, KCH Dubai also gains access to Oracle’s advanced real-time threat detection, autonomous systems, and expert support. These features are crucial for safeguarding the hospital’s networks against evolving cyber threats. Moreover, OCI’s scalability supports KCH Dubai’s plans for future expansion, allowing the hospital to grow its facilities and specialties while enhancing its capacity to serve the community.

Seema Verma, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Oracle Health and Life Sciences, praised the synergy between OCI and the EHR system. Verma emphasized that the integration enables KCH Dubai physicians to be more productive and to allocate more time to patient care rather than administrative tasks. The comprehensive platform provided by OCI also equips KCH Dubai with the tools needed to address its most significant challenges and adapt to the dynamic demands of modern healthcare.
