Karnataka MLA HD Revanna detained amid kidnapping and sexual assault allegations
The Karnataka Special Investigation Team (SIT) has detained Karnataka Janata Dal (Secular) MLA HD Revanna following kidnapping allegations. The team is also investigating his son Prajwal Revanna, who has been accused in a series of sexual assault cases. The woman whose son filed the kidnapping case against HD Revanna and his aide Satish has been located and will provide her statement to the investigative team.
Details of the Kidnapping Case
The woman had worked at the Revanna household for nearly five years before resigning three years ago. Her son alleged that she was first taken on April 26 by Satish and then again on April 29 by a man associated with HD Revanna. She was found locked up in a farmhouse in Mysuru district’s Kalenahalli village.
MLA’s Interim Protection Request Denied
HD Revanna’s request for interim protection from arrest was denied by a local court before his detention. The special public prosecutor stated, “Certain sections of the complaint speak volumes of what transpired. Are they preventing her from filing a complaint?”
Prajwal Revanna Under Investigation
Prajwal Revanna is accused of raping multiple women and blackmailing them with videos. The SIT issued a lookout notice against him after he allegedly flew abroad on April 27, a day after the Lok Sabha elections began. His lawyer had requested seven days for Prajwal to appear before the SIT.
Collaboration with Central Bureau of Investigation
The Karnataka government has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to work with international partners to locate Prajwal Revanna. The allegations against him include sexual assault at gunpoint. He is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
This case emphasizes the importance of holding influential figures accountable. Coordinated efforts by the SIT and CBI will be crucial in ensuring that justice is served, particularly in high-profile cases like this one.
