Juniper Ventures takes over 17 new fuel stations in central Texas – Here’s what that means for the market
Juniper Ventures of Texas LLC, a strategic joint venture between Midtex Oil LP and Motiva Enterprises LLC, has announced a significant expansion in its retail operations. The company has executed an agreement to acquire 17 additional retail fuel locations in Central Texas. This acquisition, which involves approximately 14 million gallons of annual gasoline and diesel supply, marks a substantial growth in Juniper Ventures’ retail footprint. The transaction is anticipated to finalize later this fall, increasing the number of outlets under Juniper Ventures to 67, with 49 of these sites to be operated directly by the company.
The newly acquired locations are Mini Mart stores scattered across Central Texas, specifically in the counties of Kerr, Kendall, Bandera, and Gillespie. These stores are expected to seamlessly integrate into the Juniper Ventures network, which primarily operates Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets and Pit Stop Food Marts in the San Antonio area. The expansion reflects Juniper Ventures’ strategic initiative to enhance its market presence in one of the most dynamic and competitive retail fuel markets in the country.
Juniper Ventures of Texas LLC, established in 2018, has rapidly built a reputation in the retail fuel sector. With its operations predominantly focused around San Antonio, the company has successfully branded its convenience stores under Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets and Pit Stop Food Marts. Rodney Fischer, President of Juniper Ventures, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion, highlighting the strategic importance of Central Texas as a growing market for convenience stores.
“We are fortunate to operate in one of the fastest-growing, competitive c-store markets in the country,” said Fischer. “We view this acquisition as an excellent opportunity to diversify and strategically grow our geographic footprint and serve more customers across this rapidly growing area.”
Fischer’s Neighborhood Markets has been a staple in Central Texas since 1977, with its flagship store located on Main Street in Kerrville since 1981. The company’s long-standing presence and established reputation in the region position it well for this new phase of growth.
Midtex Oil LP, founded in 1966 and based in New Braunfels, Texas, is a leading petroleum distributor. The company has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality fuel and lubricants throughout Texas. Midtex Oil’s extensive network and family-owned business model have been central to its success and regional influence.
Motiva Enterprises LLC, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a key player in the petroleum industry. As the largest refinery in North America, Motiva’s Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex processes 720,000 barrels of crude oil per day and includes the nation’s largest base oil plant and an integrated chemical plant. The company operates under exclusive long-term brand licenses with Shell and Phillips 66 for the 76 brand. Motiva’s broad distribution network spans over 4,500 retail gasoline stations across the Americas. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Aramco, Motiva plays a critical role in the regional and global energy market.
The acquisition of these 17 Mini Mart locations aligns with Juniper Ventures’ strategy to leverage its existing infrastructure and enhance its service capabilities in a rapidly growing region. This expansion not only broadens the company’s operational scope but also strengthens its competitive position in the Central Texas retail fuel market.
