Jindal Steel & Power secures BIS certification for fire resistant steel

Jindal & Power (JSP) has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for manufacturing fire resistant steel structures at its rail mill and special profile mill in Raigarh, .

This Hot Rolled Structural Steel, produced in accordance with IS 15103, is employed in high-temperature or fire-prone areas. It can be able to withstand temperatures as high as 600℃ for a maximum time of three hours.

As per , fire protection has been challenging when designing steel structures. The accessibility of fire resistant steel will result in more effective designs for structures, said the company.
