Jindal Stainless secures accreditation from BrahMos Aerospace for cruise missile supplies

Jindal Stainless, a prominent stainless steel manufacturer in India, has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing accreditation from BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. as a qualified vendor for producing and supplying steel sheets and plates. This accreditation, granted after a rigorous quality and credentials audit, will see Jindal Stainless’ Hisar plant in Haryana become a key supplier for BrahMos Aerospace’s cruise missiles.

Jindal Stainless, renowned for its high-quality stainless steel products, will now supply customized stainless steel and specialty low-alloy steel sheets and plates tailored to meet BrahMos Aerospace’s technical specifications. This latest development underscores the company’s robust position in the Indian defence sector and its commitment to enhancing national security through advanced materials.

Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, expressed his enthusiasm about this development. He noted that this achievement highlights the company’s dedication to India’s defence sector and aligns with the nation’s goal of becoming self-reliant in its defence requirements. He emphasized that Jindal Stainless is not only committed to meeting but surpassing the stringent conditions necessary for critical defence applications.

The approval by BrahMos Aerospace is a testament to Jindal Stainless’ dedication to excellence and innovation. The Hisar plant is set to manufacture and supply specialized steel sheets and plates, which are crucial for the technical demands of BrahMos Aerospace. This accreditation adds to Jindal Stainless’ impressive track record of supplying high-quality materials for major projects, including those for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Notably, the company has previously contributed materials for India’s Chandrayaan lunar mission, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (GSLV Mk3), nuclear submarine missile systems, missile canisters, and rocket exhaust units.

Jindal Stainless, one of the few globally certified companies with AS 9100D certification—recognizing quality management systems for aviation, space, and defence sectors—has recently delivered 3 mm special alloy steel sheets for the Supersonic Missile-Assisted Release of Torpedo (SMART) system. This contribution is expected to enhance the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities. Manufactured with a rapid turnaround time, these specialized sheets offer superior thermal stability and high-pressure resistance, essential for effective performance during missile flight.

Industry experts highlight that this accreditation marks a pivotal moment for Jindal Stainless, reinforcing its role as a crucial player in India’s defence manufacturing landscape.
