Cosmetic industry news : Kao USA, a subsidiary of Japanese cosmetics company Kao Corporation has agreed to acquire beauty and hair care products manufacturer Oribe Hair Care for an undisclosed price, to expand its Kao Salon Division’s brand portfolio.
The sellers of Oribe Hair Care include Luxury Brand Partners, a manufacturer of beauty brands.
Oribe Hair Care started off as a luxury hair care brand and has evolved into offering body care, skincare, makeup, tools and accessories as well.
According to Kao Corporation, Oribe has a strong footprint across the top-tier professional salon sector and also in specialty retailers around the globe.
Post-acquisition, Oribe will come under the Kao Salon Division portfolio which includes Goldwell and KMS range of hair products.
Oribe Hair Care’s co-founder Daniel Kaner, who is also its co-president, will take over as the president of the company after its acquisition by Kao.

Oribe Hair Care will retain its headquarters in New York City after its acquisition.

Kao acquisition of Oribe Hair Care will have to clear routine regulatory review and approval process.
