Nextracker has been selected to provide its NX Horizon solar tracker technology for phase I of the 830MW Janaúba solar power plant in Brazil.
The Flex company was given the contract for the bifacial optimized solution by Brazilian EPC company Andrade Gutierrez and developer Elera Renováveis (previously known as Brookfield Energia Renovável) in March 2021.
The Janaúba solar power plant, which will be located in Janaúba, Minas Gerais, is touted to become the largest of its kind in South America. It is slated to begin operations by early next year.
Patricio Pavez – General Manager for Renewables at Andrade Gutierrez said: “We are delighted to be working with Nextracker on the Janaúba solar plant.
“Nextracker’s extensive expertise in wind design R&D and engineering and proven bifacial gains were ultimately what led us to select the NX Horizon smart solar tracker.”
According to Nextracker, NX Horizon is a single-axis solar tracker that will enable Elera Renováveis to maximize the performance of the Brazilian solar power plant with minimal operational costs.
The company’s local office in Brazil will be handling the solar power project with engineering advisory along with commissioning, asset management, and advanced data analytics services as part of preventive maintenance.
Marco Garcia – Chief Commercial Officer at Nextracker said: “We are honored to work side by side with our partners, Elera and Andrade Gutierrez to deploy Brazil’s largest solar tracker project.
“Nextracker’s expert local staff combined with our company’s cutting-edge solar tracker and software technologies will ensure that this historic project will perform to its full potential.”
