IRCTC to expand catering services beyond Railways, eyes pan-India growth
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the hospitality and tourism subsidiary of Indian Railways and a MiniRatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, is embarking on an ambitious journey beyond its traditional railway catering services. Known for its significant contribution to enhancing the hospitality services of Indian Railways, IRCTC has consistently received praise from passengers for its operational excellence and high-quality catering services.
With a dedicated team of hospitality professionals and extensive experience in managing complex catering projects, IRCTC is now expanding its horizons to include a wider range of business ventures across the nation. This strategic move not only showcases IRCTC’s versatility but also emphasizes its commitment to promoting its brand and business beyond the railways.
Currently, IRCTC manages catering services for a diverse array of clients, including various Ministries, Government Departments, Autonomous Bodies, Judiciary, and Universities. The company has already established hospitality outlets in nine organizations, including prestigious entities like the Department of Telecommunications in New Delhi, the Calcutta High Court, and the UP Secretariat in Lucknow.
In a bold move to mark its prominence in the catering business, IRCTC has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several government and autonomous bodies. These include notable defense establishments like the Border Security Force, Indian Maritime University in Kolkata, and Cotton University in Guwahati. Moreover, IRCTC is actively working on launching 15 more catering units across the country in the near future, further solidifying its position in the industry.
This expansion plan is part of IRCTC’s broader vision to become a leading brand in Hospitality and Catering nationwide. The company is currently in discussions with various government organizations and industrial houses to set up additional catering units. These efforts are aligned with IRCTC’s goal to offer comprehensive catering solutions that reflect its expertise and commitment to excellence in the hospitality sector.
As IRCTC continues to broaden its scope of operations, it sets a new standard for catering services in India. The company’s endeavor to diversify into non-railway catering business segments not only enhances its service portfolio but also contributes to its vision of becoming a premier hospitality and catering brand in the country. This strategic expansion is poised to reshape the landscape of the hospitality industry in India, offering a blend of quality, innovation, and comprehensive service solutions.
