Intercede and Microsoft collaborate to enhance FIDO passkey management for enterprises
Intercede, a leading cybersecurity software company specializing in digital identities and strong authentication, has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft to bring advanced FIDO Passkey management to enterprise environments. This collaboration aims to streamline the management and deployment of FIDO Passkeys, integrating Intercede’s Credential Management Systems (CMS) with Microsoft’s Entra ID.
The partnership enables administrators to create and register FIDO Passkeys on behalf of users for devices such as YubiKeys and smartphones. By managing FIDO Passkeys through Intercede’s MyID CMS, organizations can now integrate them into Microsoft’s Entra ID for seamless user authentication. This integration ensures compliance with stringent U.S. federal government security standards, including FIPS 201 and SP 800-63, at the highest assurance levels.
Natee Pretikul, Principal Product Management Lead at Microsoft Security, highlighted the significance of this development: “Microsoft is committed to realizing the full promise of passkeys to help accelerate adoption within enterprise organizations. Our new FIDO2 provisioning APIs, and our collaboration with leading vendors like Intercede, represent a big step forward in helping organizations create fast, easy, and secure authentication journeys from day one.”
Intercede’s Chief Product Officer, Allen Storey, echoed this sentiment, noting that many customers have been eager to incorporate FIDO passkeys into their authentication solutions due to their phishing-resistant properties and cross-platform compatibility. “Until now, the lack of integration between credential management systems and Entra ID for passkeys has been a barrier to adoption. I am delighted that by working with Microsoft, this barrier has now been removed, allowing organizations to benefit from stronger, managed authentication.”
Intercede’s suite of products offers a range of security solutions, from secure registration and ID verification to password security management, one-time passwords, FIDO, and PKI. The company’s innovative solutions enable organizations to protect themselves against data breaches caused by compromised user credentials, with a full spectrum of authentication options from passwords to PKI, supporting customers on their journey toward passwordless environments.
This partnership marks a significant step forward in enterprise security, enabling organizations to enhance their authentication processes while ensuring compliance with federal security standards.
This collaboration between Intercede and Microsoft is a pivotal development in the realm of enterprise cybersecurity. By addressing the previous barriers to integrating FIDO Passkeys with credential management systems, this partnership paves the way for broader adoption of secure, phishing-resistant authentication methods. As enterprises increasingly seek robust solutions to protect against data breaches, the ability to manage FIDO Passkeys efficiently will be a critical factor in enhancing overall security posture.
