Inox Green Energy Services secures major wind turbine restoration contract in Tamil Nadu

In a significant boost to its portfolio, Inox Green Energy Services Ltd (IGESL), India’s premier wind power operations and maintenance (O&M) service provider, has announced a notable contract win through its subsidiary, I-Fox Windtechnik India Private Limited (I-Fox). The contract, awarded by NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL), a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of India, entails the restoration of 33 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a capacity of 1.5 MW, located at NLCIL’s wind power plant in Tenkasi District, Tamil Nadu.

The contract, valued at approximately INR 39.5 crores (inclusive of taxes), covers a comprehensive range of services including the supply of materials/spares and various activities necessary for the restoration of the WTGs over a period of 8 months. This win not only reflects the confidence that NLC India Ltd places in IGESL’s diversified service offerings but also underscores IGESL’s robust capabilities in the wind energy sector.

This project is significant not only for IGESL and I-Fox Wind but also for the broader renewable energy landscape in India. It demonstrates the growing emphasis on maintaining and enhancing the efficiency of existing renewable energy assets, which is crucial for India’s energy sustainability goals. The restoration of these WTGs is expected to contribute significantly to the renewable energy capacity in Tamil Nadu, supporting the state’s and the nation’s commitment to increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix.

The contract win by IGESL and its subsidiary highlights the importance of specialized O&M services in the renewable energy sector. It showcases how expertise in the maintenance and restoration of wind turbines is critical for optimizing performance and ensuring the longevity of wind power plants. Such initiatives are pivotal for India’s transition towards a more sustainable and renewable-focused energy future.
