Infosys Foundation to build 100-bed maternity hospital in Karnataka

Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Infosys, has announced a groundbreaking initiative to construct a 100-bed maternity and child care hospital in Kunigal Taluk, Tumakuru district of Karnataka. In a partnership with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Karnataka, Infosys Foundation is committing a grant of INR 55 crore for the hospital, which will be situated within the Taluk General Hospital premises.

Hospital Aims to Serve 30,000 Mothers and Children Annually

The planned maternity and child care hospital aims to serve approximately 30,000 mothers and children from rural areas annually. It will offer a broad range of services, including high-quality diagnostic, surgical, ante and post-natal care, emergency obstetric management, as well as neonatal and pediatric services. The initiative emphasizes providing timely, holistic, quality, and affordable healthcare to rural populations in and around Kunigal.

Infosys Foundation Furthers Commitment to Rural Development and Healthcare

This new healthcare facility is part of Infosys Foundation’s ongoing commitment to rural development and improved medical infrastructure. Previously, the Foundation collaborated with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Karnataka, to build another 100-bed maternity hospital in Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District. It also supported the addition of a 350-bed block at Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru, enhancing cardiac care for underprivileged patients.

Suresh, Member of Parliament, Bengaluru Rural, Karnataka, expressed appreciation for Infosys Foundation’s contributions to healthcare in the state. “This initiative ensures easy accessibility to affordable and quality healthcare for mothers, children, and future generations in Kunigal Taluk,” said Suresh. Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, Trustee, Infosys Foundation, added, “We have been working relentlessly to make high-quality, holistic care available to mothers and children in various districts through our valued engagement with the Government of Karnataka.”
