Indian Railways’ RITES wins PMC contract from Metro Express, Mauritius

Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES) said that it has won additional work of consultancy services (PMC) worth MUR 250 million (INR 45 crores) in Mauritius from Metro Express Limited.

The Indian Railways subsidiary, which is engaged in providing engineering services, said that the consultancy work pertains to the extension of the mainline from Rose Hill to Reduit via Ebene.

Metro Express Limited handles the operation of the Metro Express Light Rail Transit System in Mauritius for providing transport between Port Louis District and Plaines Wilhems District. The Metro Express Light Rail Transit System, whose first phase was inaugurated in late 2019, covers a total distance of 26km.

In April 2021, a RITES-led consortium was declared as the lowest bidder in a competitive bidding process held by Bangladesh Railway for constructing a dual guage railway line project in Bangladesh.
