A mass shooting incident in Fort Worth, Texas following a local festival has resulted in the deaths of three people and left eight others wounded, marking another outbreak of gun violence around the July 4 holiday.
The shooting took place shortly before midnight on Monday in a parking lot, as confirmed by the police on Tuesday.
CBS News reported that one individual was declared dead on the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. An additional eight victims were admitted to the hospital, but their conditions remain undisclosed. ABC News affiliate added that of the victims, 10 were adults and one was a juvenile.
The deadly shooting incident occurred in Fort Worth’s Como neighborhood, shortly after the conclusion of the annual ComoFest, a Fourth of July celebration marking US independence.
Uncertainty surrounds the motive of the shooting and the number of suspects involved. No arrests have been made so far. A senior official with the Fort Worth Police Department, Shawn Murray, indicated that it was too early to determine if the incident was domestic or gang-related.
Meanwhile, Monday night also saw another shooting incident in Philadelphia where five people were killed and two were injured. A suspect was apprehended in this case by local police. These incidents follow a violent episode on Sunday where two people were killed and 28 others were injured, including numerous children, during an outdoor neighborhood block party in Baltimore, Maryland.
