Illinois American Water buys water and wastewater systems of Villa Grove
American Water’s subsidiary Illinois American Water has acquired the water and wastewater systems of the City of Villa Grove for $11 million.
The acquisition adds around 1,489 water and 1,069 wastewater customers to the eastern Illinois service area of Illinois American Water.

Since 2020 we have had the privilege of partnering with over 11 communities across Illinois through acquisitions, sharing our expertise and making critical investments in aging systems.”
Illinois American Water is intending to invest around $21 million in the initial seven years of ownership to enhance the acquired water and wastewater systems of the City of Villa Grove. Work comprises the replacement of water meters, water mains, wastewater main, and fire hydrants.
Upgrading lift stations, including replacing pumps, will boost system reliability, said Illinois American Water Safety, while also disclosing plans to improve security and safety systems.
Illinois American Water also aims to design and build a new wastewater treatment plant to underpin system reliability and community growth.
