Idemitsu Kosan opens Cikarang lubricant manufacturing plant in Indonesia

Idemitsu Lube Techno Indonesia, a subsidiary of Idemitsu Kosan has opened a new lubricant manufacturing plant – The Cikarang plant in Bekasi, Indonesia.

The new lubricant manufacturing plant, which has an annual production capacity of 50,000 KL, is expected to augment the supply for the growing demand for high-performance lubricants in Indonesia.

Mostly engine oil for initial filling of motorcycles and automobiles will be manufactured at the Cikarang lubricant manufacturing plant apart from OEM replacement products by using the latest production facilities, said Idemitsu Kosan.

According to the Japanese petroleum refineries company, the existing first plant – The Karawang plant located in the Karawang International Industrial City and having an annual production capacity of 65,000 KL, had no scope for expansion. This led to the new second plant to be established in Bekasi Regency, which is near the Karawang plant.

Idemitsu Kosan said that the establishment of the Cikarang lubricant manufacturing plant takes the total annual production capacity of the company in Indonesia to 115,000 KL. The Cikarang factory marks the seventh lubricant manufacturing plant, which is managed directly by Idemitsu outside of Japan.

The Japanese petroleum refineries company founded Idemitsu Lube Techno Indonesia on the investment of its local partner – Atlas Petrochem Indo in 2004. Idemitsu Lube Techno Indonesia supplies productions to Idemitsu Lube Indonesia, the Japanese company’s fully-owned distributor, Atlas Petrochem Indo, and for overseas affiliates as well.

“Idemitsu will continue to aim for the improvement and expansion of our business as a global supplier of lubricants as well as establish our community-oriented manufacturing and sales structure in Indonesia”, stated the Japanese petroleum refineries company.
