Hormel Foods acquires pit-smoked meats supplier Sadler’s Smokehouse
Hormel Foods has closed its previously announced $270 million acquisition of Sadler’s Smokehouse, a Texas-based pit-smoked meats supplier for foodservice and retail customers.
Sadler’s Smokehouse is engaged in delivering premium pit-smoked whole muscle meats with custom injections, flavors, rubs, and spice blends. The company has been supplying its meat products to Hormel Foods for more than 20 years.
The deal was announced in late February 2020.
Sadler’s Smokehouse will continue to operate from its Henderson facility in Texas and will operate under the refrigerated foods division of Hormel Foods.
At the time of announcing Hormel Foods acquisition of Sadler’s Smokehouse, Jim Snee – Hormel Foods board chairman, president and CEO, said: “Sadler’s Smokehouse is a great company with an impressive history, talented team and an outstanding portfolio of on-trend products that resonate with consumers, customers and operators.
“This is a very strategic acquisition for our foodservice business and it gives us another successful brand to expand into the retail and deli channels.”
The legal adviser for Hormel Foods in its acquisition of the pit-smoked meats supplier was Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath. On the other hand, Beard and Harris served as legal adviser to Sadler’s Smokehouse.
