HMI Group secures majority stake in Harley Street to expand cardiovascular services
Health Management International Pte Ltd (HMI Group), a key player in private healthcare across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, has strategically expanded its presence by acquiring a majority stake in The Harley Street Heart & Vascular Centre (Harley Street), one of Singapore’s foremost private cardiovascular groups.
Harley Street: Pioneers in Heart and Vascular Care
Founded in 2012, Harley Street stands as Singapore’s first combined heart and vascular group, dedicated to multidisciplinary specialist care for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). With four centres in Singapore and one in Cambodia, Harley Street’s team comprises 5 cardiology and vascular surgery specialists, providing services in advanced cardiovascular imaging, cardiac electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, heart failure, preventive cardiology, and vascular surgery.
Addressing Singapore’s Leading Cause of Mortality: Cardiovascular Diseases
CVDs rank as the top cause of death in Singapore, responsible for one-third of all deaths in 2020. The increase in common risk factors such as obesity, hypertension, and hyperlipidaemia has intensified the need for comprehensive cardiovascular care. Through this acquisition, Harley Street’s specialists will collaborate with HMI Group’s primary care network to enhance accessibility to integrated cardiovascular care.
Strategic Partnership for Integrated Healthcare
This acquisition aligns with HMI Group’s strategy to develop an integrated healthcare platform and expand its specialist services portfolio in Southeast Asia. Ms. Chin Wei Jia, Group CEO of HMI Group, emphasized the acquisition’s role in broadening HMI’s healthcare solutions and supporting community health. Dr. Reginald Liew and Dr. Rohit Khurana from Harley Street expressed optimism about leveraging HMI Group’s network to elevate heart and vascular care standards in the region.
Enhancing Patient Care Through Specialist-Primary Care Collaboration
The partnership is set to improve care quality and access, with HMI Group’s primary care network referring patients for early specialist evaluation, streamlining treatment processes and reducing appointment needs. The collaboration marks a significant step in offering comprehensive, quality cardiology and vascular care to local and regional communities, backed by the expertise and commitment of both entities.
Tardis Capital played a pivotal advisory role in facilitating this key transaction within the healthcare sector.
