Hero MotoCorp dispatches record 488,717 units in August 2023, unveils new models
Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has set a new record by dispatching 488,717 units in August 2023. This marks a substantial increase from the 462,608 units sold during the same month last year. The surge in numbers comes ahead of the anticipated uptick in customer demand for the festive season. Better monsoons and improved agricultural activity across India are also expected to boost customer sentiments.
In addition to breaking sales records, August was an action-packed month for Hero MotoCorp, with the company launching several new products to bolster its portfolio. One of the most exciting additions is the Karizma XMR, priced at INR 1,72,900. This premium motorcycle is equipped with a 210cc Liquid Cooled DOHC Engine, 6-Speed transmission, Slip and Assist Clutch, and Dual Channel ABS. It also offers segment-first features such as an adjustable windshield and Turn-By-Turn navigation. Customers can pre-book the Karizma XMR through the company website, by phone, or at Hero MotoCorp dealerships with a booking amount of INR 3,000.
But that’s not all. The company also rolled out a refreshed version of the Glamour motorcycle, which now features Hero MotoCorp’s revolutionary i3S technology (Idle Stop-Start System), a fully digital console, real-time mileage indicator, and a mobile charging port.
Moreover, Hero MotoCorp’s iconic motorcycle, Passion, joined the ranks of the top-10 best-selling motorcycles in the country, becoming the third Hero MotoCorp motorcycle to earn this distinction alongside Hero Splendor and Hero HF.
In collaboration with American motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson, Hero MotoCorp co-developed the Harley-Davidson X440, which garnered an overwhelming customer response with 25,597 bookings closed by August 8. Deliveries of this eagerly-awaited model are set to begin in October.
In a detailed breakdown, Hero MotoCorp dispatched 452,186 motorcycles and 36,531 scooters in August 2023, compared to 430,799 motorcycles and 31,809 scooters in August 2022. The company’s strong domestic performance saw 472,947 units dispatched, with exports also experiencing a rise, clocking in at 15,770 units.
With these developments, Hero MotoCorp solidifies its position as a leading player in the two-wheeler market, setting the stage for an even more successful run as the festive season approaches.
