HCL Technologies, IIT (ISM) to advance decarbonization solutions for oil and gas industry
HCL Technologies (HCLTech) and the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, Jharkhand [IIT (ISM) Dhanbad] have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for transforming energy systems around the world and advancing decarbonization solutions for the oil and gas industry.
Through the collaboration, the parties aim to build a knowledge management system by leveraging advanced IT technologies.
Students and research scholars of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will be offered projects and internships opportunities by HCL Technologies to create digital solutions in the areas of hydrocarbons exploration, drilling, and production to decrease carbon footprint.
Professor Rajiv Shekhar — IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Director said: “We are pleased to work with HCLTech on this path-breaking initiative. Academia and industry need to forge symbiotic partnerships that bring benefits to both.
“Such collaborative efforts will be instrumental in advancing research and innovation in technology, besides creating a skilled workforce. Joint activities in research and knowledge development have tremendous potential for creating economic and social impact on society.”
HCL Technologies and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will also take up sustainability initiatives and programs such as podcasts, discussions, and joint presentations at global forums on transformative initiatives in the oil and gas industry.
According to the Indian IT services provider, the MoU will help it bolster its collaboration with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad while its customers will benefit from advanced solutions in low-carbon sustainability.
