Harbor Wholesale has completed its previously announced acquisition of rival US convenience distributor Rich & Rhine Wholesale.
Rich & Rhine Wholesale will continue to independently operate from its distribution center based in Portland, Oregon under the leadership of Ron Squires, its current president. The distribution company supplies to convenience stores in the Pacific Northwest.
Justin Erickson – Owner and CEO of Harbor Foods Group said: “We’d like to welcome Rich & Rhine’s talented team into the Harbor family. We’re fortunate to carry on the legacy of a successful family company with mutual values of teamwork and customer success.”
Currently, Harbor Wholesale operates distribution centers in Lacey in Washington, Roseburg in Oregon and now in Portland as Rich & Rhine Wholesale, a Harbor Wholesale Company.
According to Harbor Wholesale, the acquisition of Rich & Rhine Wholesale gives it the scope to set up a Portland hub to cater to the more densely populated markets across Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Robert Krupp – former Chairman of Rich & Rhine Wholesale said: “As we continued down the path of successfully growing our business, we realized that substantial capital investment would be necessary to support our customers’ expansion into foodservice, fresh foods, branded programs, and new technologies.
“Our partnership with Harbor allows us to accomplish these goals by leveraging Harbor’s existing infrastructure in a number of these areas.”
The enlarged convenience distributor will serve 4,500 plus independent retailers across the Northwest with collective buying power to improve customer profitability.
