Gravita Tanzania announces significant expansion in recycling capacity
Gravita India Limited, a frontrunner in the recycling industry with a global manufacturing presence, has officially announced a significant expansion in the capacity of its subsidiary, Gravita Tanzania Limited. This strategic enhancement escalates the unit’s battery recycling capacity by 5,000 Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), elevating the total capacity to 12,000 MTPA. This expansion is a notable step towards achieving Gravita’s ambitious target of reaching a cumulative capacity of 4,25,000 MTPA by the fiscal year 2026.
The investment for this capacity expansion is estimated at approximately Rs 3.33 Crores, which has been financed through the internal accruals of the company. This financial strategy underscores Gravita’s commitment to sustainable growth and its confidence in the profitability and environmental benefits of recycling.
With this expansion, Gravita Group’s total recycling capacity has soared to 2,90,859 MTPA. Gravita India Limited is celebrated for its leadership in the recycling sector, operating 12 eco-friendly, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities worldwide. The company has a robust presence in over 70 countries, leveraging over 30 years of recycling expertise across five business verticals. The production from the Tanzanian plant is poised to meet the global battery industry’s needs, promoting the establishment of a circular economy in the international recycling market.
